Have you ever seen a dish appear on the screen that just makes you go "I wonder what that tastes like"? Well, I'm sure you've had one of those moments, or at least we here at fictional fork definitely have. As university students who grew up on 2010s media, there's a good mix of references from cartoons, disney movies, sitcoms etc. Without further ado, here are some of our favourite iconic film foods that are not only tasty, but vital to world-building and pop culture.

1.Ratatouille (Ratatouille)

ree

Possibly the most well-known film food of all, the first dish to include definitely has to be Ratatouille! This titular food has been the face of this beloved Disney film involving our favourite little rat chef cooking up his dreams in Paris. While it may be time-consuming to combine all the elements together, this rustic and elegant dish is one of the easier ones to make at home!

2.Krabby Patty (Spongebob)

ree

If you haven't heard of the Krabby Patty, or even Spongebob, can you really say that you had a childhood? Jokes aside, the secret formula recipe to this burger sold in the Krusty Krab contains a secret ingredient that has yet to be revealed... It's so irresistible that Plankton tries to steal the recipe multiple times throughout the show, and you can now try Wendy's version from their recent collaboration with the Spongebob franchise!

3.Butterbeer (Harry Potter)

ree

When I think of Harry Potter, the first thing that comes to mind is hands-down butterbeer! This popular wizarding beverage has been described to be akin to butterscotch with a slight alcoholic hint, which sounds amazing if you ask me. If you would like to have a taste, I would recommend trying to make it at home or visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for a jug!

4.Turkish delight (Narnia)

ree

Turkish Delight (or Lokum) was Edmund's favourite sweet, and was used by the white which to trick him into betraying his family. Putting the enchanted nature of the sweet aside, this 3 ingredient treat is already highly addictive enough on its own, so much so that I might have done the same if I were Edmund...

5.Chocolate cake (Matilda)

ree

If there's one sweet treat on this list that will always be my roman empire, it would be the Chocolate Cake from the Roald Dahl classic, Matilda. Although, the movie scene it stars in is slightly traumatising to say the least. Everything unfolds into disaster when the headmistress Miss Trunchbull accuses Bruce of eating a slice of her chocolate cake and forces him to finish an entire, massive chocolate cake. While this leaves Bruce on the verge of vomiting with a chocolate stained face, this delectable dessert of soft sponge and ganache layers would definitely be sublime when enjoyed in moderation.

6.Buddy the elf breakfast spaghetti (elf)

ree

Given that Christmas is just a few months away, next on the list is a celebrated favourite that is not necessarily the most appetizing but undeniably iconic. After having his first meal of Spaghetti with his new human family, Buddy the Elf concluded that humans eat it all the time, and so he made his own version for breakfast. This consisted of spaghetti, maple syrup, chocolate syrup, M&Ms, marshmallows, a chocolate fudge Pop Tart and most likely his hand sweat as he mixed it all by hand. A christmas classic for sure, yum!

7 Eat me cookies (Alice & Wonderland)

ree

These cutely decorated, unassuming cookies are loaded with magic, so much so that they can make you grow to be giant-sized! Seeing as how Alice ate them and grew to reach the key on the table, I'll be on the search to find them in boxes by doorknobs or at White Rabbit's house to boost my 5'3 height.

8.Milkshake (pulp fiction)

ree

At the time, $5 for a milkshake seemed like a ridiculous price, and why Vincent was so curious to try it. Now, in this economy, that's definitely a steal for a milkshake that was said to be "pretty ****ing good".

9.Kevin's famous chili (The Office)

ree

I still vividly remember Kevin bringing his famous chili to the office, as he does every year, and then proceeding to spill it all over the floor while slipping multiple times to clean up his mess. However, as he puts it, "The trick is to undercook the onions. Everybody is going to get to know each other in the pot. I'm serious about this stuff. I'm up the night before, pressing garlic, and dicing whole tomatoes. I toast my own ancho chiles. It's a recipe passed down from Malones for generations - it's probably the thing I do best." What a waste, would have loved to try some of it.
